What are your three major strengths as a job applicant? Post and make as specific and quantifiable as possible (avoid fluff like “I’m highly motivated… a team player… a people person… always striving for excellence…”)

Remember, the strongest strengths [lol] for job applicants are those that are quantified (expressed in numerical form) and that come with specific accomplishments and terminology.

Look no further than this classic of corporate-speak:


The only thing missing is how many light bulbs the person changed in a period of x months. Of course, if you only had to change one, you’d write “accomplished 100% of assigned goal.”

OK, it’s a parody, but it gets at a key truth of organizational communication: people only hear you if you are speaking their language, and the language of most organizations is measurable accomplishments. Or what sound like accomplishments.
