Role overload refers to the understanding that demands of work and family leave individuals strained and overwhelmed while role buffering refers to the understanding that both parents (or others assuming a parenting role) act in ways to buffer the effects of stress associated with dual roles.
Using the UMUC library or a comparable local library database, locate one recently published (within the past 5 years) academic journal article that reports issues and challenges 1) facing parents in the workplace (a non-military setting) or 2) focusing on parents serving in the military.
What are the challenges facing working/military parents? Their children? Their adolescent children? Their adult children and/or grandchildren? What are the available supports and resources, and/or strategies used by parents to address these issues?
