Sample business impact analysis questionnaire

A business impact analysis (BIA) attempts to relate specific risks and threats to their impact on key issues like business operations, financial performance, reputation, employees and supply chains. The BIA is usually the starting point for risk identification in a business continuity context and the analysis’ results should guide the risk assessment process.

 

The discovery process relies on questionnaires to gather relevant information. The person creating the BIA works to identify business attributes such as critical business processes, interdependencies among business units (both internal and external), supply chain dependencies, minimum acceptable office configurations and supplies, minimum time needed to recover operations, as well as minimum staffing required to provide business as usual. BIA questions are posed to key members of each operating unit in the company. A well-organized BIA questionnaire should be able to fulfill its discovery objectives in no more than 20 to 25 questions.

ASSIGNMENT 1: Competency in Microsoft Excel

Your firm has just lost its accounting system. The only thing you have left is the financial reports from the December 31, 20XA and June 30, 20XB reporting period, but the data is garbled. You have been asked by your Controller to reconstruct the Balance Sheet & Income Statements in Excel for each of these reporting periods as well as performing the following ratio analyses: (a) current ratio ; (b) quick ratio; (c) debt ratio; (d) equity ratio; (f) debt-to-equity ratio ; and (g) profit margin for each reporting period.

Part I:

  • Using the data provided by your professor, create an Excel worksheet that contains the firm’s balance sheet and income statement. You will be required to use formulas and/functions to recreate the firm’s financial statements, such as the items in YELLOW.
  • Using the data from your balance sheet and income statement, conduct the requested ratio analyses.
  • You will submit one Excel workbook for Part I

Part II

  • Write a two to three (2-3) page memo in which you summarize the firm’s financial position, based on the information provided in Part I.
  • The memo will be submitted electronically as a Microsoft Word document with SWS formatting.

  • This course requires use of new Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The format is different than other Strayer University courses. Please take a moment to review the SWS documentation for details

Discussion Post: The Multiplier Effect

Aggregate expenditure is the total amount of spending in the economy that determines the level of the GDP. Components of aggregate expenditure are autonomous expenditure, planned private investments, government expenditure, and net exports. When autonomous expenditure increases or decreases, it has a multiplied effect on the GDP.

Referring to the 10-year historical period of 1980 – 1990, discuss an example of a change in autonomous spending. Research a government policy implemented during that time and discuss the multiplier effect it had on the economy.

Part 3 – Due 11/29: A comparison which contrasts and compares the US health care system with the country you have chosen. As you describe the most important aspects of each country’s system, be sure to give discrete examples, facts and statistics, impacts and/or outcomes to illustrate the similarities and the differences. Use the same parameters as detailed in Sections 1 and 2 above.

Be sure to describe challenges that each system experiences, and detail efforts to address those challenges. Are there implications that can be drawn from this comparison that could lead to improvements for one or the other, or for both countries? (2 pages).
