  • For this week’s discussion, I read the article Cambridge Analytica and Facebook: The Scandal and the Fallout So Far. The article goes over how personal data was stolen from millions of users on Facebook by a consulting company called Cambridge Analytica. Their data was used to for political campaigns to give candidates votes from information that was mined from Facebook to increase their chances of winning. A former employee at Cambridge Analytica came forth and told the New York Times what was going on which brought light to what was going on. An ethical conundrum is when a problem occurs which causes one to make a decision based on their personal values. It’s basically asking someone to make a decision based on personal beliefs. The former employee has to make a decision based on keeping his job while doing something shady or revealing the truth. In the end he told the world what was happening which was in his and the everyone else’s eyes, the correct decision.Reference:Kang, C., & Frenkel, S.
