write a professional email

Write an email that contains the following information:

  • your program ( i.e business management ) and (why have you chosen this program?)
  • your goals (what career do you hope to pursue after you graduate)
  • your interests (social justice, environment, politics, art, etc.)
  • your expectations for this course (what you expect to learn, what you expect from your instructor, etc.)

While composing your email, please pay close attention to form and structure. Avoid using acronyms (BTW, ROTFL, OMG, TTYL, etc.), slang, or numbers instead of letters: in other words, do not use the written language generally reserved for texting, instagram, and other social media.

Treat this email as a demonstration of your professional writing capabilities.

Pay attention to the composition of your message:

  • Give the email an appropriate subject
  • Start with a short introduction stating the purpose of your message
  • Include pertinent information in the body of the email
  • Close with a “call to action” (In general, if you are requesting an action or response from your reader, you would include it here. For this task, you can simply write “I look forward to hearing from you,” or something of that nature.)
  • End the letter with an appropriate signature (Sincerely, Best regards, etc.) and your name
  • Length of email should be a minimum of 250 and maximum of 300 words.
