Odessey Essasy
Write an essay which explores the role of narration in the Odyssey: “Hero as Narrator, Narrator as Hero”
Unlike Achilles, whose identity in The Iliad is determined by a single event, Odysseus is identified by his entire story. He narrates the fantastic part of The Odyssey in which he explores the nature of human community, the limits of human resourcefulness, and even the concept of mortality. Outside this inserted long story, Odysseus negotiates either diplomatically or strategically with presentations of himself that make use of his own experience. Even the strategem of the Trojan Horse involves a deceptive narrative which he has conceived. The stories Odysseus tells may be true or false, but they are always purposeful.
The essay should be 4-5 pages doublespaced (1000=1250 words). Quotations of more than a line should be singlespaced.

MBA_1.3 – Jim’s Problem
MBA_1.3 – Jim’s Problem
MBA_1.3 – Jim’s Problem :Jim is a computer technician. He has worked at his current job for 6 months and is discontented with his coworkers, whom he sees as cold and unfriendly. In Jim’s previous job as a salesman, he prided himself on his ability to interact with people; Jim’s customers and coworkers loved his great sense of humor. His new coworkers seem annoyed by his jokes, and his attempts to make positive connections with them have so far been unsuccessful. He is finding that although he enjoys the technical aspects of his new job, he feels lonely and frustrated. His most recent effort to reconcile the rift between himself and his fellow employees came last weekend when he planned a party for his whole department on Friday night, but not one person attended.
Jim’s problem could have numerous causes, however, he suspects it has something to do with personality.

Models of Abnormality
Models of Abnormality
As evidenced in Chapter 2 of the textbook, contemporary thinking about psychological disorders includes a broad variety of models or paradigms. The list of models used in framing psychological disorders includes the following: biological, psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive, humanistic-existential, and sociocultural. Each model highlights different factors in the development of abnormal behavior and suggests different avenues for the treatment of psychological disorders. In this week’s Assignment, you will closely examine these models and compare and contrast two of your own choosing.
To prepare for this Assignment:
- Examine the textbook chapter on models of abnormality and identify twomodels you find most intriguing.
- Review the personal experience or encounter with abnormal behavior you explored in this week’s Discussion (you may instead choose an experience shared by a classmate if you wish).
The Assignment:
In a 2- to 3-page paper, provide a brief description in your own words of each of the two models you chose and discuss why these two models appeal to you.
Using the personal experience or encounter with abnormal behavior you (or a classmate) explored in this week’s Discussion, compare and contrast the two models (describe similarities and differences) in terms of how each might explain the development of the abnormal behavior described.
Compare and contrast the approaches to treatment that each model might suggest.
